Essaouira is particularly popular in the summer. Its sandy beaches and coastal activities, ranging from kite surfing to quad biking, cycling, fishing, and horseback riding make it a perfect fit for travelers in search of adventure. There are charming restaurants and beachside cafes that serve fresh seafood and delicious local cuisine. This retreat allows you to experience 8 days of bliss here with a generous sprinkling of all that Morocco has to offer.
The retreat also includes some amazing day-trips to the surrounding sites. A guided day in Marrakesh will lead you through an introduction to the souks. Our itinerary gives you a chance to venture to this majestic part of the world while in safe hands as you meander through this exotic maze like walled city. Vibrant and lively, Marrakesh is a city that excites the senses and is a definite on any traveller’s bucket list. It offers the perfect combination of colours, culture, architecture and yummy indulgences.
With this in mind optional activities can be organised for days off and also lots of free time is available for you to do whatever you choose - be it exploring the markets or relaxing by the pool.
You will arrive to Essaouira either by bus or domestic flight. Our driver will pick you up at the airport or bus station. Enjoy a welcome cup of mint tea and take the afternoon to settle, unpack or enjoy time by the pool while the other guests arrive.
We meet at 5pm for a sacred opening ceremony and our first practice together as a group. Delight in a welcome henna celebration, perhaps even give belly dancing a try, before we have dinner as a group: your first taste of traditional Moroccan tagine!
Rise early to enjoy mint tea or coffee before our morning practice. Then awaken your body with gentle and creative movement. Our retreat offers lots of time to reflect during our dharma discussions and journaling prompts. Enjoy a swim or perhaps head directly to breakfast where you will enjoy fresh fruit and traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Our private bus takes us to the heart of Essaouira, where we will take the day to explore the colourful souks and shops in the Medina. Essaouira is a laid back seaside town situated along Morocco’s Western Coast. We stop to take in the powerful sights of the ocean from the ancient rampart.
Stop for lunch on your own in the Medina before our tour of an Argan oil farm. Here we learn about the oil production and take a special meditative walk. We return back to the villa for free time and dinner at your leisure.
The day begins by moving your body with your teachers Helena and Jackee. Flow as a community through an energetic practice before we prepare for a luxury day of relaxation and pampering at the spa!
Take time to move slowly today, enjoy a traditional breakfast and fresh squeezed orange juice. Take a swim or go for a walk through the gardens which are homes to chickens, cats and peacocks.
It is impossible to stay in Morocco without discovering the ancestral ritual of the oriental hammam. Enjoy an afternoon at the spa with a traditional hammam black soap body scrub with eucalyptus followed by a body mask made from local plants and herbs and a one hour relaxing massage with argan oil. A lovely BBQ lunch will be enjoyed poolside at the Country Club, all included.
Return back to the hotel for free time. Enjoy dinner at your own leisure.
After a gentle practice, enjoy breakfast at our villa but try not eat too much this morning, because today we get to appreciate the tastes of Morocco with a traditional tagine cooking class. Our local guide will bring us into the spice market as you learn about the many spices that go into Moroccan meals.
Here you will even get to test your bargaining skills while you buy fresh spices for home. This cooking class will offer you the chance to experience the authentic Moroccan style of cooking in an authentic local house where you will interact with the family and learn about the Moroccan culture.
We return back to the villa for free time & dinner. Plan to wake up early tomorrow!
We wake up before the sun today on a group outing via our private bus to the pulse of the country, Marrakesh. Our day will consist of a personalized tour with a local guide to the famous Marjorelle Gardens. We enjoy lunch in the gardens (on your own) then head to the Medina. The medina quarter or “the old city” of Marrakesh is beautiful and takes you back in time. With the narrow and maze-like streets, traditional shops and markets, the sights, smells and sounds all around you, you are sure to fall in love! The architecture is enthralling and you are sure to hear the sounds of the prayers while visiting!
There are historical fountains, palaces, and mosques to behold. It is a real treat to visit the best shopping the souks has to offer. We will break to do some shopping on our own and meet in the famous Jemaa el Fnaa square at 6:45pm to head to an amazing dinner on a rooftop overlooking the city. This dinner is not included, but we will eat together as a group. After dinner, the square comes alive! Local food stalls, juice stands and street performers take over and this is a sight you don’t want to miss. We depart for our Villa at 9/10pm.
Today is a free day. After yoga (which is always optional) and our group discussion enjoy breakfast and take the day to explore as you wish. After lunch (on your own), take a kite lesson, enjoy quiet beach or pool time, or check out the amazing shopping in the Medina. Oh and make sure to catch some live music that has made Essaouira a favourite destination for nightlife! Enjoy dinner at your leisure.
Awaken to watch the sunrise sipping mint tea, or sleep in to recover from a late night. We practise at 8am, followed by breakfast. Take time to freshen up and strap on your bathing suit to head to the beach! The beach is full of activity: kite surfing, locals playing basketball, street vendors, children laughing and camels - lots of camels! Every part of Morocco really is magical and being at the beach reminds us of the magic in the simple things, like the sun on your face or dipping your toes into the cool ocean. We arrive back at the villa just in time for a very intimate closing ceremony and gratitude exploration, followed by a farewell dinner at the villa and an incredible night of celebration.
This is our final day together and by now you will be surrounded by new friendships that will last a lifetime. We move slowly this morning as we take in our final yoga practice. This is a very sacred time to ensure you leave Morocco with your heart open. We enjoy our last meal together and final cup of mint tea before departing our villa for the airport or bus station.
